Managing Stakeholder Engagement
Measuring Project Success
When managing stakeholder engagement, the main key for project success is to satisfy customers and sponsors. Placing their needs and requirements above scope, time, and cost constraints is proven to be more effective for projects. Scope involves addressing mandatory before option requirements. Time measures involve issue that may affect schedule goals. Lastly, cost covers project expenditures.
Expectations Management Matrix
All of this can be encapsulated within an expectations management matrix, highlighting behaviors towards meeting scope, time, and cost goals. The matrix unfolds measures of success; priority, expectations, and guidelines for each measure. Using your expectations and guidelines will help ultimately prioritize your measures. This is especially important for keeping stakeholders engaged, all in agreement of listed priorities. With that said, important tools must be used for handling conflict between stakeholders which will be covered in the next section.
Issue Logs
Issue logs are also a great tool used within managing stakeholders engagement. They’re useful for documenting and updating issues between stakeholders, whether they’ve been resolved or not. Like measures of success within the matrix, all conflict documented in issue logs must be prioritized as well. This will be helpful for understanding when to resolve a particular issue with respect to the projects measures of success.
